Boy Scouts

PURPOSE OF THE MINISTRY

The Boy Scouts Ministry is an extension of the Boy Scouts of America of the Nation’s Capital Area. Scouting help youth to build self-confidence, become independent, make sound decisions, and be a Christian example as well as guide them in attaining the highest level of scouting – The Eagle Scout. The two divisions of scouting are:

1) Cub Scouts for boys ages 5-10.  Cub Scouts participate in projects, exciting outdoor activities that offer fun and rewarding experience while earning badges and awards; and

2) Boy Scouts for boys ages 11-17.  A Scout can complete requirements for any other rank in virtually any order, but the ranks must be earned in sequence of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, and Eagle. The stated mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to “prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.”
