Girl Scouts

PURPOSE OF THE MINISTRY:

The Girl Scouts Ministry is an extension of the Girl Scouts of America of the Nation’s Capital Area.  Girl Scouts helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision making; as well as guide them in attaining the highest honor of girl scouting – The Gold Award. Girl Scouts of the USA has six levels; Daisies, for kindergarten and first grade; Brownies, for grades 1–3; Juniors, for grades 4–5; Cadettes, for grades 6–8; Seniors, for grades 9–10; and Ambassadors, for grades 11–12. Each level promotes learning and growth based on the interests and needs of the age group.  The stated mission of Girl Scouting is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place by instilling in them the values of the Girl Scout Law and Promise.
