Bishop John A. Cherry, II

Bishop John A. Cherry, II is a born-again, Spirit-filled man of God who gave his life to the Lord in 1981 at age 11. Bishop Cherry received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in English from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. He is married to Reverend LaWanda M. Cherry and they have two daughters, Abriona and Aleah, and one son, John A. Cherry, III.

Bishop Cherry was consecrated as the Episcopal Pastor of From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide™ on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at our 3rd General Church Meeting.  In this capacity, he serves as the oversight of all From the Heart churches both stateside and internationally.  Bishop Cherry is also currently pastoring From the Heart Church Ministries ®, the Parent Church, in Suitland, Maryland.  He was officially installed as the Pastor of From the Heart on Sunday, June 4, 2006 at its 25th Anniversary Worship Service, which was held at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.

Bishop Cherry has a desire to do the Will of the Father, to preach His uncompromised Word and a readiness to obey God’s instructions. He takes his duty and responsibility to teach and interpret God’s Word very seriously and spends countless hours in preparation, meditation and study for each sermon that he delivers.

In his position of oversight, Bishop Cherry holds training and conferences for the From the Heart pastors, overseers and bishops.  He has also developed a three-year Course of Study for Ministerial Training and he teaches this training to ministers, elders and those with a call to ministry. In his pastoral assignment, the congregation that he has charge over consists of over 20,000 people with approximately 4,250 people attending weekly services live and over 10,000 weekly connections to the stream of these services.  He also manages the daily operations of the ministry.  This includes the management of over 100 members on staff within various departments, a Christian School which ranges from pre-school and kindergarten to high school, and over 70 volunteer ministries. 

Bishop Cherry is the Chairman of the Episcopal Council and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide™ and is the Headmaster of From the Heart Christian School.

Bishop Cherry is a self-proclaimed “equal opportunity preacher” and has preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ with boldness and conviction at many churches around the world, ranging from the smallest to the largest.
